In this webinar, Brent will talk about how he co-founded lastminute.com, the early days, what it took to scale up the business, the challenges faced and how these were successfully overcome. In addition, he will also give his thoughts on today's travel industry and as well as touching on his current career.

​

In 1998, in partnership with Martha Lane Fox, Brent founded lastminute.com. The founders were former colleagues at media strategy consultants Spectrum. With their commitment and energy, they quickly scaled up the business. By December 1999, lastminute.com was handling over £37m of transactions per annum and generating a profit of £330,000. The business was sold to Sabre in 2005 for $1.1bn.

Brent went on to co-found Made.com in 2010, leaving the business when it went public in 2021 at a valuation of $1.1bn. He is currently Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Founders Factory (global venture studios, seed programmes and accelerator programmes), Founders Forum (global community of founders, corporates and tech leaders), and firstminute capital ($320m seed fund with a global remit, backed by over 120+ unicorn founders).

Brent sits on the advisory boards of Google Cloud, The Tessa Jowell Foundation, the UK Government Digital Service and the WEF Digital Europe Group. He was also a founding Champion of Change for The Global Tech Group and has been an advisor to four UK prime ministers. In 2015, Brent was awarded a CBE for his services to entrepreneurship.
